The old heart of Hamburg Harbor
The operations of the historic port-related warehouse district of Hamburg was managed from this ornate brick building with bay windows until the beginning of the last century. The photo shows clearly how the copper roof has changed its color over time. The weather gradually
oxidizes the copper and gradually gives the material its green color. This distinctive roof-covering can also be seen in further architectural landmarks of Hamburg, for example at Hamburg's main church St. Michaelis Church and at the City Hall.
